The Hung and the Breastless
The Hung and Breastless went 3-0 this week, taking over first place. Ian Stevens made his league goaltending debut with the 3 wins, filling in for Darryl Moorcraft who played out, taking a break from the nets. Doug Taylor led the way with a hattrick in their first win, 7-3 against the Flames. Five different players scored in their 2nd win, 6-4 against the Collective. HB finished the day winning a close game against the Predators 5-4. Darryl scored a couple of goals in this game in a role reversal for his team. Darryl finished with 3 goals and an assist in his offensive debut. Dan LeBlanc and Harold Plante led their team's scoring for the day with 8 points each, while Doug had the most goals with 4.
The Predators
The Predators finished the week with a 2-1 record. They started their day with a win against the Collective. They built a quick 4-1 lead and hung on for the 4-3 win. The Preds picked up their 2nd win of the day against the Flames, with some balanced scoring, having seven different players scoring in the 8-5 win. They finished the day losing a close game against HB, 4-5. The Preds seem to have taken care of their mini slump. They've only won one game in the previous 2 weeks but rebounded this week with 2 wins. Vince MacDonald led his team's scoring for the day with 7 points while Kevin Stafford had the most goals with 5.
The Collective
The Collective went 1-2 for the week and dropped out of first place, slipping 2 points back of HB. After starting the day with a 5-2 win over the Flames on the strength of Larry Condly's 4 goal game, the Collective dropped the next 2 games. They lost a 3-4 decision to the Predators, who had grabbed an early 1-4 lead, and then finished the day with a 4-6 loss to HB. This game dropped the Collective out of first place. They continue to struggle a bit, having only had a winning record once in the past 6 weeks. Larry Condly led his team's scoring this past week with 8 points and also had the most goals with 5.
The Flames
The Flames ended up with a 0-3 record for the week. Despite scoring the first goal in 2008, the Flames ended up losing their first game 2-5 to the Collective. The next 2 games were quite similar. They lost their last 2 games by 3-7 to HB and 5-8 to the Preds. Dennis Moffitt had a hattrick against the Preds but that wasn't enough to overcome some well balanced scoring. Dennis scored 6 out of the Flames 10 goals this week. The time off didn't seem to be very helpful to the Flames. They had been on a hot streak and finished the year's last 10 games with 8 wins. Dennis led his team's scoring for the week with 9 points which included 6 goals.
