Collective Comebacks

Predators Break Ties Record

The Flames

The Flames finished the day with a 2-1 record. Despite Troy MacDonald's hattrick, the Flames lost their first game 4-7. In their next game, they rebounded with a tight 7-6 win against the Predators. Dave Whitter scored the winning goal with about 2 seconds left in the dramatic finish. In their 3rd game of the day they defeated HB 8-6 with a few late goals after being down 5-6. Scott Praught tied the game before Dennis Moffitt scored the winner shortly after on a nifty diving play. Then Jim Taylor finished with the insurance goal, his 4th goal of the game to seal the deal. Jim had the most points for his team this week with 8, including the most goals with 5.

The Collective

The Collective went undefeated this Sunday with a 1-0-2 record. They started the day with a 7-4 win over the Flames on the strength of Grant Donovan's 4 goal game. Their 2nd game got off to a bad start, getting down 0-4 early in the game. Rick Haines scored late in the game to complete the comeback for the tie. The next game started very similar and after, eventually getting down 1-6 the Collective began their comeback, finally completing it when Mike Moore scored with about 10 seconds left, completing the hattrick for the tie against the Predators. Grant Donovan and Rick Bartlett scored the most points for their team with 10 each. Grant scored the most goals with 8.

The Hung and the Breastless

The Hung and Breastless finished this week even with a 1-1-1 record. They began the day with a quick start but had to settle for a tie in the first game. In the 2nd game, Peter Wolters hattrick wasn't quite enough, as they took a loss against the Flames who scored some late goals. HB finished the day with a solid 5-2 win against the Predators, with Peter's 4 goal game leading the way. Darryl Moorcraft edged ahead of Kelvin Hoyt for best goals against average, with this game. HB still presently maintain a 3 point lead in first place with 6 weeks left in the season. Peter led his team in points this past Sunday with 7, all of which were goals.

The Predators

The Predators went winless Sunday with a 0-2-1 record. They started out the day losing a heartbreaker 6-7 against the Flames with 2 seconds left, after Scott Sheppard had tied it with his 3rd goal of the game on a quick wraparound play. After a great start in their 2nd game the Preds ended up having to settle for a tie, giving up another late goal, this time against the Collective with 10 seconds left in the game. The tie set a new record for most ties in a season. The Preds now have 9. After a couple of tough games the Predators lost their final game of the day to the Hung and Breastless 2-5. Scott was his team's top scorer of the day with 8 points, which included 4 goals.
