Predators Clinch At Least 3rd Place

Dennis Moffitt Scores 2 Last Minute Tying Goals

The Collective

The Collective went 2-1 this past Sunday. They gained another point to give them a 5 point lead in first place. After starting the day with a 1-6 loss to the Predators, they rebounded with a 5-4 win over HB, with Rick Bartlett scoring a late goal for the win. In their final game they won 7-6 over the Flames with another late goal. The Collective had a winning record for the day despite not having two key players, missing Grant Donovan and Brian Merrithew. Rick Bartlett and Mark Whitlock led their team's scoring Sunday with 7 points each. Rick scored the most goals with 4. Of note, Mark had a 5 point game against the Flames.

The Predators

The Predators went 1-1-1 this week, getting back to the ties, with their 12th tie of the season. The Preds started their day with a 3-5 loss to HB, but rebounded against the Collective with a 6-1 win. They've outscored the Collective 17-6 in the last 2 games. In their final game of the day they gave up a late goal in the last minute of play, finishing with the 5-5 tie against the Flames. The Preds clinched at least 3rd place for the season. Yvon Mayer led his team's scoring this week with 9 points, including the most goals with 4. Of note, Scott Sheppard played his 2nd consecutive week in nets and allowed only 11 goals, giving him an average of 3.53 in 15.6 games.

The Hung and the Breastless

The Hung and Breastless finished the day with a 1-1-1 record. They started the day with a 5-3 win over the Predators. They gave up a last minute goal in their 2nd game against the Flames and had to settle for the 5-5 tie. James McKinnon had the hattrick in the game. Their final game of the day ended in a 4-5 loss to the Collective, again giving up a late goal. Sunday was only the 3rd time this season that Peter Wolters was able to play all 3 games. Peter and Davie Mossman had their team's most points Sunday, with 6 points each. James scored the most goals with 4. Of note, Davie finished the day with 5 second assists.

The Flames

The Flames went 0-1-2 this past Sunday. After only 1 tie all season, which came in the 15th week, they tied twice in the same day. In their first game, Dennis Moffitt scored the tying goal with 17 seconds left for the 5-5 tie against HB. In their 2nd game, Dennis scored in the last minute again to give the Flames the 5-5 tie. Jim Taylor had the hattrick in the game. In their final game of the day, it was the Collective scoring the late goal giving the Flames their first loss of the day, 6-7. Jim led his team's scoring this week with 12 points. He also had the most goals with 6. Of note, Dave Whitter had 3 points in the first game before leaving due to an injury.
