HB Go 3-0 And Close The Gap On 1st Place

Hattricks In Every Game Except One

Darryl Moorcraft Plays Every Game Except One

The Hung and the Breastless

The Hung and Breastless finished 3-0 for the day. That puts them only one point behind 1st place. HB started their day with a 5-1 win against the Flames, with Darryl Moorecraft back in nets. This would be Darryl's 3rd consecutive game in nets, after winning the first two, filling in for another team. Ian Stevens scored a hattrick in the game. Peter Wolters got a hattrick in the 2nd win for HB, winning 5-3 against the Predators. They finished their day win an 8-4 win over the Collective, a key game in the battle for 1st place. Peter and Doug Taylor led their team's scoring, each with 8 points. Peter had the most goals with 6. Of note, Darryl won all 5 games he played in nets this past Sunday, allowing only 14 goals.

The Predators

The Predators finished the day with a 2-1 record. They started their day with a 9-1 victory over the Flames, on the strength of Art McCoy's 4 goal game and Yvon Mayer's hattrick. The Preds, without a goalie this week, borrowed Darryl Moorecraft from HB. They won their next game 6-5 against the Collective with Vince MacDonald scoring 4 of the 6 goals. They borrowed Paul Richard from the Collective to play nets for their 3rd game but lost 3-5 against HB. Vince led his team's scoring this week with 10 points and also had the most goals with 6. Of note, the Preds are only 1 win down from a .500 winning percentage. Another 2-1 record week next week will put them there. They've gone 6-3-1 in the past 3 weeks.

The Collective

The Collective ended up with a 1-2 record this Sunday, dropping 4 points from their 1st place lead, narrowing the margin to 1 point. Their first game was a 5-6 loss against the Predators, giving up a late goal. They rebounded with an 11-4 win over the Flames where Grant Donovan had a 4 goal game and 8 points. The 3rd game was a 4-8 loss to HB, getting down early and never recovering. The Collective haven't finished a week with a losing record in the past 6. Grant led his team's scoring with 15 pts this week. He also had the most goals with 7. Of note, since Darryl Moorcraft played nets a lot on Sunday, the Collective faced him twice and scored 9 out of the 14 goals Darryl gave up but weren't able to get a win.

The Flames

The Flames finished Sunday with a 0-3 record. In missing Dennis Moffitt they had a hard time generating offence. Their first game they lost 1-9 to the Predators, then lost their 2nd game 1-5 against HB. The most offence came against the Collective but surrendered more goals in the process, losing 4-11. The Flames are 0-7-2 in their past 3 weeks. I'm sure they're looking forward to starting fresh when the playoffs start. Jim Taylor led his team's scoring with 4 points. He also had the most goals with 3. Of note, despite finishing in 4th place, the Flames had the longest winning streak of the season with 7 wins. Despite the standings suggesting otherwise, the Flames have been very competitive during the season.
