Predators Again One Win, One Loss, One Tie
Kelvin Hoyt and Paul Richard in Goaltender's Battle
The Collective
The Collective stretched their lead to 7 points by going undefeated Sunday with a 2-0-1 record. They started with a couple of 6-3 wins. Five different players scored in the first win against the Flames. Then Grant scored 4 goals to lead the way in the 2nd game against a short staffed HB team. The Collective's 3rd game turned out to be a goaltender's battle after getting down by two goals early against the Predators. Paul Richard made many key saves to allow his team back into the game, with Larry Condly finally scoring the tying goal late in the game. Grant Donovan led his team in scoring with 11 points, including 6 goals.
The Predators
The Predators went 1-1-1 again this week. That makes four weeks in a row they finished the day 1-1-1. After dropping the first game, the Predators rebounded with a tie against the Collective after giving up a late goal. They got the win against the HB guys, 4-2. This allowed the Preds to tie for 2nd place with 16 points. The Predators participated in their 3rd goaltender's battle with another 2-2 tie. They have allowed 3 goals or less in 5 out of their last 6 games. Vince MacDonald, Yvon Mayer and Mark Cress led their team's scoring for the day with 4 points each. Vince had the most goals with 3, one in each game.
The Flames
The Flames went 1-2-0 on the day, picking up their 4th win of the season, rebounding from losing their first game. They then played a tight game against HB, losing 3-4 with Troy MacDonald picking up the hattrick. Pat Nolan played nets for the Flames and picked up his 2nd win for the team. Jim Taylor had 5 points to lead the way in the win against the Predators. The Flames are still winless against the Collective despite scoring over an average of 5 goals per game. They've won 4 out of their last 8 games in the past 4 weeks against the Preds and HB. Jim led his team's scoring for the day with 7 points. Troy had the most goals with 4.
The Hung and the Breastless
The Hung and Breastless went 1-2-0 this week, despite started the day with only 2 players and a goalie. They borrowed a couple of players for the first game but lost 3-6. They were able to start with enough players in their 2nd game and rebounded with a 4-3 win over the Flames. During the final game they lost a close 2-4 game against the Predators. Fatigue may have contributed to the loss, having to play back to back games with only 5 runners. This gave the Preds a tie with points although HB still has 2nd place with the most wins. Doug Taylor led his team's scoring for the day with 8 points, including 4 goals.
