The Predators
The Predators finished Sunday with a 1-0-2 record, to bring them within 4 points of 1st place. With two more ties this past week brings the total to 7 ties in 8 weeks. There were only 11 ties last season. HB had the most with 8. After starting the day with a 3-3 tie against HB, the Predators won a close game against the Flames 5-4, with five different players scoring a goal. Then they finished the day with another tie against the Collective, 2-2. They haven't lost to the Collective in the past 3 weeks. Troy Doyle and Vince MacDonald led their team's scoring with 5 points each. Troy had the most goals with 3.
The Hung and The Breastless
The Hung and Breastless went 1-1-1 for the week, keeping pace with 1st place. They tied their first game against the Predators, 3-3. This is the 4th time these teams have tied this season. Despite Doug Taylor's hattrick in their 2nd game, they ended up losing to the Collective, but rebounding with a 10-6 win over the Flames with the help of Dan LeBlanc 4 goal game as well as goals from 4 other players. It was Doug's 5th hattrick of the season. Dan now has two. Doug led his team's scoring for the day with 8 points, including 6 goals.
The Collective
The Collective went 1-1-1 for the day, holding their 3 point lead. They started with a win against HB, 6-4. The Collective had 5 different scorers in the win. Their 2nd game ended in a tie, another 2-2 goaltender's battle. Rick Bartlett scored the tying goal from a perfect pass by Brian Merrithew. They've only managed 5 goals in the past 3 games against the Predators. The Collective finished the day losing their first game against the Flames after 7 straight victories. Mark Whitlock led his team's scoring this week with 8 points. Mike Moore and Larry Condly had the most goals with 3.
The Flames
The Flames went 1-2-0 this week. After giving up the first game in a close match against the Predators, then a late collapse against HB for their 2nd loss of the day, they finished off with a 10-5 win their first against the Collective. Dave Whitter had a 4 goal game and Jim Taylor had the hattrick to lead the way. It was Jim's 3rd hattrick of the season and Dave's first. The Flames ended up even in goals for and against, with 20 each, a vast improvement on last week. Dennis Moffitt had the most points for his team with 14, including 5 goals. Dave Whitter also had 5 goals for the day.
