HB Goes 3-0 Despite Not Having Their Championship Goaltender

Peter Wolters and Doug Taylor Adapting Quickly to the New Gym With 17 Goals

The League Welcomes Five New Players Making Their Debut

The Hung and The Breastless

The Hung and Breastless started out the season right where they left off last season, taking over 1st place with 3 wins. Doug Taylor and Peter Wolters led the way, each scoring two hattricks. One of Peter's hattricks was doubled as he scored, a league record, six goals against last season's top goaltender. Doug (14) and Peter (12) had 26 pts between them. Harold Plante provided excellent goaltending in Darryl Moorcraft's absence. Harold also got in on the offense with 5 pts. A decent day for a forward let alone a goaltender.

The Collective

The Collective started quickly with Brian Merrithew scoring the first goal in less than a minute, but giving up a couple of late goals left the team with a loss. After giving up a late goal in the second game, ending in a tie, they were still waiting for their first win. After getting down 3-1 in their 3rd game, they finally turned it around. After tying the game, Evan Bartlett scored, what turned out to be the winning goal. It was great to see Mike Moore's return to the league. Welcome back Mike. Grant Donovan led the way for the Collective with 8 points. Welcome to the league Grant.

The Flames

The Flames started the season with a high-scoring game that saw 17 goals. Unfortunately for the Flames, Peter Wolters had 6 of them, which was too much to overcome. After dropping the 2nd game, like the Collective, they also had to wait for their final game of the day for a win which they got against the Predators. Most of Trevor's players were present for his team's league debut. The only players he had missing were two new players. Scott Praught, the Flames' other new player, played and picked up a goal and an assist. Welcome to the league Scott. Jim Taylor was the Flames top scorer for the day with 8 points, which included 5 goals.

The Predators

The Predators, who were missing a key defenseman in Mark Cress, only managed 1 point for the day, tying the Collective with a late goal in their first game. Despite Vince MacDonald's hattrick in the 2nd game, the Hung and Breastless came up with too much offense and handed the Predators their first loss. During their 3rd game, both teams were looking for their first win, but the Flames prevailed leaving the Preds to wait until next week. Vince MacDonald provided the most offense for the Predators with 8 points that included 4 goals. Welcome to the league Vince. Also, Tristan Horncastle will not be able to play so Dale Lyons will be replacing him. Welcome to the league Dale.
